It seems that Sony Ericsson is working on their new sets of NFC enabled Android smartphones, as NXP Semiconductors N.V. has just announced that they will be supplying Sony Ericsson with the NXP PN65 NFC chip for future Android smartphones.

There are no details given on how exactly Sony Ericsson will use the technology in future NFC Android devices, as well as to the specific models in the works as yet.

“Building on Sony Ericsson’s leadership in Android and mobile gaming, the integration of near field communication into our Android-based Xperia™ portfolio is another step in delivering the most entertaining smartphones,” said Jan Uddenfeldt, Chief Technology Officer at Sony Ericsson.  “NFC offers our consumers the ability to broaden their communication experience beyond the phone, and we are poised to drive the development of new, exciting and creative entertainment experiences.”

It will be interesting to see what Sony Ericsson has planned for this one, and for me, the NFC technology looks promising to their future Android devices.

Sony Ericsson X10, Sleek & Slim

The Sony Ericsson X10 is not just an eye-candy phone for it’s also feature-packed with useful apps and entertainment features, just perfect if you’re always on the move.

It has Wi-fi connectivity, querty keyboard, HSDPA, and a touch screen display.

The Qwerty keyboard allows users to work fast and send messages quickly, and the wi-fi enables you to get connected anywhere and at any time.

Cell phone market seems to be moving too fast and that and if you’re a cell phone manufacturer and want to keep up with the market, you should make sure that your releases or models are up to date with the current trending, or else, you’ll find yourself in trouble.

Take for example, Sony Ericsson. Four months ago they were showing off its Xperia X8 Android phones and everyone thought that it’s going to be huge. However it delayed the launch of the phone, due to some teething problems.

It has been released with Android 1.6, which is kinda outdated, though Sony tells us it will be upgrading to Android 2.1, however Sony has made promises like this before and left us on limbo. Besides why pay for 1.6 when you can get 2.1 from a rival.

It features a 600MHz processor when most of the rest of the industry has 1GHz above. It has a three inch capacitive HVGA display with a 3.2MP camera when 5MP is standard. It also has a mere 128MB of on-board storage.

Well, I guess the phone’s release is not right for other brands’ specs are beyond its reach. Sony should learn from this, and hopefully they release their phones in time, next time.
